This award recognises organisations in Ireland that have successfully transformed workplace culture, employee engagement and workforce capability to support sustainability and environmental objectives. Projects may include (but are not limited to): sustainability training and education, green skills development, employee engagement programmes, behavioural change initiatives, internal sustainability leadership, diversity and inclusion within green transition planning and workforce reskilling. Entrants are expected to demonstrate how their initiatives are creating meaningful organisational change, increasing workforce participation and embedding sustainability into company culture, with measurable outcomes where possible. Entry is by a 5-page A4 PDF submission; the judges will be looking for evidence of strong employee engagement, leadership commitment and measurable impact, paying particular attention to the criteria listed below.

  • Organisation Background & Sustainability Culture: Describe the size and nature of your organisation and outline your overall sustainability journey. Demonstrate how sustainability and environmental responsibility are reflected within your workplace culture, organisational values, and people strategy.
  • Workforce Transformation Strategy: Outline your approach to transforming workforce capability and engagement to support sustainability objectives. Include key goals, leadership involvement, workforce planning, and how sustainability has been embedded into employee development and organisational culture.
  • Implementation & Employee Engagement Initiatives: Summarise the key initiatives delivered as part of the transformation programme. This may include sustainability training and education, green skills development, behavioural change campaigns, employee engagement programmes, internal sustainability champions, diversity and inclusion initiatives, or workforce reskilling programmes.
  • Leadership Commitment & Stakeholder Involvement: Explain how senior leadership, employees, and other stakeholders have supported and contributed to the programme. Include details on internal communication strategies, collaboration initiatives, employee participation, and how accountability for sustainability objectives has been encouraged across the organisation.
  • Outcomes & Measurable Impact: Provide evidence demonstrating the impact of the programme on employee engagement, workforce participation, sustainability awareness, or behavioural change. Include measurable outcomes where possible, such as participation rates, training completion, employee feedback, retention improvements, or environmental performance improvements linked to workforce initiatives.
  • Future Development & Continuous Improvement: Outline future plans to further strengthen workforce sustainability engagement and capability. Include upcoming initiatives, long-term workforce development goals, and how the organisation intends to continue embedding sustainability into company culture and employee experience.
