This award recognises organisations in Ireland that have implemented circular economy initiatives designed to reduce waste, maximise resource efficiency and transform traditional linear business models. Projects may include (but are not limited to): reuse systems, product redesign, materials recovery, remanufacturing, circular supply chains, waste reduction initiatives, recycling innovation and sustainable resource management. Entrants are expected to demonstrate how their initiatives are creating measurable environmental benefits and driving meaningful organisational transformation toward circular business practices. Entry is by a 5-page A4 PDF submission; the judges will be looking for innovation, scalability and measurable impact, paying particular attention to the criteria listed below.

  • Organisation Background & Sustainability Journey: Describe the size and nature of your organisation, including the sectors and operations impacted by your circular economy initiatives. Outline your sustainability journey to date and highlight any relevant certifications, frameworks, partnerships, or external recognition supporting your circular economy transformation.
  • Circular Economy Strategy & Objectives: Outline your organisation’s circular economy strategy, including key objectives, measurable targets, and how circular principles have been embedded into business operations, products, services, or supply chains. Demonstrate how the strategy aligns with wider sustainability and environmental goals.
  • Implementation & Innovation: Summarise the key initiatives delivered as part of the transformation programme. This may include waste reduction initiatives, product lifecycle redesign, reuse and recycling programmes, sustainable materials adoption, resource recovery, circular procurement practices, closed-loop systems, or innovative operational processes that reduce environmental impact.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Organisational Adoption: Explain how employees, suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders have been engaged throughout the circular economy journey. Include details on collaboration initiatives, supplier engagement, employee training, behavioural change programmes, and how circular thinking has been embedded into organisational culture.
  • Outcomes & Measurable Impact: Provide quantifiable evidence demonstrating the impact of the programme. This may include reductions in waste sent to landfill, increased material reuse or recycling rates, reductions in resource consumption, carbon savings, operational efficiencies, or financial benefits achieved through circular economy initiatives. Include year-on-year comparisons and real-world examples where possible.
  • Future Plans & Continuous Improvement: Outline future plans to further develop your circular economy strategy, including upcoming initiatives, innovation opportunities, investment priorities, and continuous improvement measures. Demonstrate how the organisation plans to scale circular practices and deliver long-term environmental and business benefits.
